Topology

Topology controls how devices in a zone transmit and sense, trading sensing coverage against airtime and network bandwidth.

More sensing paths improve presence detection, but each path adds airtime and network bandwidth. Choose based on how much traffic your network can handle.

Star

A single device is designated as the transmitter. This provides fewer sensing paths than mesh, but uses the least airtime and network bandwidth. If the transmitter goes offline, another device takes over automatically.

You can select a preferred transmitter for the zone. Aim for the sensing lines between the transmitter and each receiver to fan out through the room: a centered transmitter is the easiest way, but a corner transmitter also works when receivers spread out around it. The preference is respected while the device is online; if it goes offline, another device takes over automatically.

Mesh

All but one device transmit, each covering a single direction. This covers every sensing path once, but not bidirectionally.
