License Activation

Activate your TOMMY license

Overview

Privacy Information

The TOMMY server requires an active internet connection for license activation and periodic verification. The server communicates with https://activation.tommysense.com in the following scenarios:

  • During activation: When you activate your license
  • On application start: When TOMMY starts up
  • Heartbeat: Periodically while the application is running

Data transmitted: Only your license key and a machine identifier (non-personal) are sent to the server. No personal information is collected or transmitted.

Power Loss Protection

If your machine loses power without TOMMY gracefully shutting down, the license can in some cases become unusable when starting up again. If you encounter this issue, you might need to wait up to 35 minutes to allow the server's safeguard mechanism to release the license, then restart TOMMY.

Activation Steps

  1. Open the TOMMY dashboard
  2. Click the Activate License button at the top of the dashboard
  3. Enter your license key (from your purchase email)
  4. Click Activate

Multiple Licenses & Consolidation

This section applies to single-zone license purchases only. If you purchased the Unlimited Zones license, your single key already covers all zones and no consolidation is needed.

Each single-zone purchase generates one license key covering one zone. If you have purchased licenses for multiple zones, you will receive a separate key per transaction.

To add an additional zone to a TOMMY server that already has an active license, use the Activate License button and enter the new key. TOMMY will automatically consolidate it into your existing license, extending its zone entitlement.

Consolidation is irreversible. Once a zone license key has been merged into an existing license, it cannot be separated again.

Troubleshooting

Activation fails:

  • Check your internet connection
  • Verify your license key is correct
  • Ensure https://activation.tommysense.com is accessible from your network
  • Check firewall settings that might block HTTPS connections

License not recognized after activation:

  • Wait a few seconds and refresh the dashboard
  • Restart the TOMMY application
  • Check application logs for error messages

License unusable after power loss:

  • If your machine lost power without TOMMY gracefully shutting down, the license may be temporarily locked
  • Wait 15 minutes to allow the server's safeguard mechanism to release the license
  • Restart TOMMY after the waiting period
